FACTS/TIPS ON INDOOR TANNING:
One of the benefits of indoor tanning versus outdoor tanning is that it allows you to control the amount of UV light that you are exposed to, so that you do not get a sunburn and prepare your epidermis for a predisposition to skin cancer.
Indoor tanning can also be a great help for those suffering from diseases, such as psoriasis or osteoporosis, as UV rays can assist the body in manufacturing the Vitamin D it needs to allay such conditions. This is a great benefit to individuals who need to get their dose of UV regularly and are unable to do so on a rainy day. Many doctors will prescribe UV exposure to people with certain skin conditions or other health ailments that can be remedied by regular doses of UV.
Some studies have shown that exposure to UV can help with improving mood and depression conditions, especially in winter when the suns UV levels point during the year.
Once you build up your base, you really don't need to
tan as often. So depending on the type of bed you are
using, you should only go 2-3 times per week to keep
your tan, even less in stronger beds. This is where I see many people go overboard, tanning every day when it is really not necessary. Many people enjoy the relaxation time that tanning provides, but tanning too often can and will speed up your aging process and potentially cause other skin ailments over a long period of time.

FACTS/TIPS ON INDOOR TANNING LOTION:
One of the best ways to maximize your tanning experience is with indoor tanning lotions that protect your skin and can help to accelerate the tanning process. These tanning bed lotions can be applied both before and after tanning since tanning actually continues for some time after each tanning bed session, especially when using the tanning-bed lotion.
Tanning bed lotions typically contain tyrosine, an amino acid that helps the body to produce melanin. Melanin production is also stimulated by the UVB rays emitted in a tanning bed; indoor tanning lotions can enhance this production. Tyrosine also helps the body retain melanin longer by replenishing the amino acids and slowing down the exfoliation process. Lotions with tyrosine may also help to clean your pores since tyrosine has been shown to be an antioxidant, binding harmful free radical molecules together and allowing them to be exfoliated.
Many tanning-bed lotions also contain Vitamin E, which also helps to clear your pores, and copper, which can reduce the visibility of unsightly scars and other skin flaws. The antioxidant effects of both tyrosine and Vitamin E can also help to fight some signs of aging, in particular, they will work to prevent the development of wrinkles and fine lines, especially on your face.
Tanning-bed lotions also moisturize your skin, which is important since the UV rays that your body receives during tanning will work to dry out your skin. Using indoor lotions help to counteract this drying and provide nutrients that your skin needs to resist the effects of the environment around you.
Always use a good quality indoor tanning lotion. It will help your skin to absorb the UV, which will aid in the tanning process. Skin tends to dry out faster during the tanning process so the use of a indoor tanning lotion will help slow the skin's exfoliating process.
It is also best to apply an indoor tanning lotion 1-2 hours before tanning which allows your skin time to absorb the lotion and maximize you tanning session.
Exfoliating your skin at least 2 times a week will help keep skin smooth and allow your skin to hold a much deeper tan.
Always follow up after a shower by using a moisturizer to keep skin hydrated. Moisturized skin maintains a tan longer.

FACTS/TIPS ON SUNLESS TANNING:
It is a good idea to exfoliate with a good quality exfoliant, loofah sponge or a pumice brush.
Follow up this scrubbing with a good water based moisturizer, especially on the knees and elbows, which tend to be dryer than the rest of your skin. It is best to do this several hours before you apply the self-tan so that the moisturizer does not interfere with the self-tanner. Don't use lotions with oil in them or it may block the self tanning solution from penetrating your skin.
Wash your hands after applying self tanning cream so you do not streak or stain your palms.
Use a cotton ball to apply self-tanner to tops of hands/fingers and the face/neck area.
You will want to wait a minimum of 4-6 hours before showering or getting these areas wet with water or perspiration.

FACTS/TIPS ON WHITE SPOTS FROM TANNING:
White spots from tanning are usually the result of Tiena vesicular, or a fungus.
It originates from the hair, and like dandruff, it drops from the hair onto your skin. The only difference is it is much smaller (usually you can't see) and it keeps those areas from tanning. It is commonly found on skin in the shoulder, arm, back, chest area.
The most effective form of treatment is using a dandruff shampoo like Head-n-Shoulders on your hair, and also apply a small amount directly to the affected spots on the skin and allow it to sit for 5 minutes before rinsing. Do this daily for several weeks, religiously, and it will go away. If you leave it untreated, it will likely continue. Many salons also offer specialty products that do the same thing and it is the same process, just a different brand.
FACTS/TIPS ON HEALTHY SKIN:
Eat a nutritious, well-balanced diet that includes lots of water (6-8 GLASSES A DAY) for good skin hydration.
Cleanse your skin daily and use top quality face care products to nourish, protect, and revitalize your skin (make sure the skin care products you use match your skin type).
Follow with a good quality toner to remove excess dirt before moisturizing.
Exfoliate at least 1-2 times per week for skin renewal and improved elasticity. This is one of the key tips for healthy skin, so don't forget!
Moisturize and use sun protection as part your daily facial skin care regime. The sun's rays can cause major damage to your skin and are the primary cause of wrinkles.
If you have fine lines around your eyes, you can help reduce them by using eye creams that are specially formulated to work on this sensitive and delicate part of the skin.
